The pictures I took today are more terrestrial in nature than yesterday. I must admit that I was so excited about my picture taking activities last night that I went back out in the frigid cold twice more to try to get clearer shots. I only managed to freeze my butt off. But it was fun. I haven’t had that much fun in frigid temperatures in like…ever.

Today I turned my attention to a sparrow that was taking up residence in a tree in my front yard. I tried to get a shot or two of a male cardinal that was chasing a female around but they wouldn’t stay in one place long enough for me to point the camera in their direction. So, to the sparrow quietly watching all the activity around him.

Tweet, tweet.

Seeing those buds on the tree branches, I’m reminded that Spring is impatiently waiting for Winter to be done with its acid trip.  I’m hoping the sparrow is plotting to get it’s revenge on Winter by crapping all over his freshly washed car.

Day 42, chilled.

Still practically in my pjs, I drove across the river this morning expecting to be gone for a few minutes. 253 pictures later, I headed home. Captured: an eagle, this year’s quota of geese, trees, snow-locked boats, a thawing Mississippi and a bridge.

There was *so much* to look at today. Everyone was out. Including the guy in the shot below. I like that the birds are really defined in the picture, and that the guy is a bit out of focus.

Day 12, not half bad.

January 11, 2014

It was a beautiful day for picture taking!

I took my camera everywhere. I took pictures of robins, my dog staring at the robins, my daughter at lunch, swans, geese, and a stuck up eagle. I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to get a perfect picture of the coriander chutney I made to go with dinner (it was *really* green, who could blame me?). I did my fair share of pointing and clicking, and less fussing with the settings. I think I need to review the videos Canon put up so I can put all of these options to good use.

I think this picture of a robin in my yard was the best of the bunch.

Hello, Robin! Tell me, is spring nearly here? This winter stuff sucks.

At one point I used the Sports setting (or is it Action?). I pointed and click click click. I had no idea what I was going to get, or if any of it was going to be any good.

I had a little surprise waiting for me. Sometimes the click click clicky bird gets the worm.

Day 11…you did good.

Well, what do we have here?

Oh! Mine mine mine!

Later boys! Time for lunch!
